Small Business Management Capstone Fall 2025

Oct 15, 2025 - Dec 21, 2025

The BUSI 660, a capstone project-based course, is designed for students in the final term of their MBA program. The course has a strong analytical, applied, and experiential orientation. Students work in groups of 4-5 to focus on a challenge/opportunity for the business. The students' process - and ultimate deliverable will include a current analysis of the business, problem or opportunity identification, research (as applicable), recommended solutions/strategy with implementation plan, budget and finally, risk identification and mitigation strategies (again, as applicable). The project can be for a Canadian business of any size, however enterprises run by solo-preneurs would probably not provide the necessary scope.

Collaborating with Dominika and her students from University Canada West on the Strategic Marketing Blueprint for Peak Beverage Co. was a positive and well-structured experience. The course instructors demonstrated clear communication, timely coordination, and genuine engagement throughout the project timeline. Expectations for deliverables and presentation standards were well defined, and feedback cycles were organized in a way that supported both learning and real-world application. The educators showed strong support in ensuring alignment between the project scope and course outcomes, while maintaining a professional and collaborative working relationship with the company. Overall, the partnership reflected a high level of organization, mutual respect, and academic value. I would gladly collaborate again with this faculty team in future semesters.
